• 1 HR OFF-LEASH BACKCOUNTRY HIKES: Offering 3 hikes per day, two am and one pm, for your convenience. Times may change seasonally due to weather conditions.

If your dog is well socialized and loves running free through the woods, then this is the ultimate form of exercise- a great alternative to the traditional round the block dog-walk. In fact 1-hour off-leash is the equivalent to several hours of leashed dog walking as dogs easily do circles around us humans when given the chance to frolic freely as a group. In my experience, I have found that a full 1-hour hike gives plenty of release without over doing it. Some may say, my dog can go for hours and hours; and while some doggies have greater stamina, I have found through experience that dogs can get agitated. They can even injure themselves during extended periods of excitement at a fast pace and off leash pack situation. (Please see "A Dogs Day" service for more extensive exercise).

This is a social outing that is carefully monitored and can have between 4 to 8 dogs attending. There is always a strategic and sensitive approach to combining dogs into a "tribe" for each outing (off-leash dog walk) to ensure a happy frolic on the trail. Basic vocal commands are used throughout hikes along with a whistle that is use to regroup. Praise is given enthusiastically throughout our adventures... This is a vital component to building a kinship with the pups. It spreads happiness and that's the kind of vibe we want on the trail!!! All dogs on free-form backcountry hikes must have recall and be well socialized.

NOTE: Full hour, refers to a trail outing that is for a complete full hour. SYM does not include dog pick up time, driving time to the trailhead, or watering time... although some trails encounter water accesses, water still needs to be provided at the end of trail runs too. Along with towel downs (wet dogs) and body checks/brushing for cheatgrass (seasonal) or any "ouchies" that might have occurred. This all takes time but does not take time away from your dog's time on the trail!


• NEIGHBORHOOD JAUNTS- cruz'n the hood leashed but happy!

Cruz'n around in your neighborhood on leash is a great way to get your dog out and about for the traditional dog walk. For the hound that is home all week SYM recommends at least 3 times a week (all dogs must be leash friendly). This is an excellent option for a dog that does not do well in a free-form situation or is not compatible with other canines. Although this can also be a social outing! Keep in mind your sweet older doggies. This is a great outing for them to get out in the hood, check messages (sniffing about) or just saunter around on the sidewalks keeping the ol' chassis limber and close to home base.

• MOSEY TRAIL- treat your "oldies but goodies" to a leisurely hike

SYM now offers a Mosey Trail, a half hour wooded dog-walk for the old doggies. The pace of this hike moves slowly on even and mellow terrain and offers the elders time to move at their own pace. This hike specifically caters to elders. Due to the challenge of some doggies with hearing and sight loss, some elders may need to be leashed while out on the trail. This enables us to care take and guides everyone safely. An old-timer service was strongly suggested by longtime SYM families. Strutt Your Mutt has been fortunate enough to care take doggies from their younger years into old age. Our old pups are great teachers in the journey of being present. They do not dwell on all the aches and pains or consider themselves over the hill. They simply live, wanting to be close to their kin, and soak up all the good stuff! For most, being out in the woods on the trail is one of the good things in life! For this reason I believe strongly in providing this type of service with never ending understanding & respect to these wise old furry spirits.

NOTE: Ramps are always used to load and unload.

• A DOGS DAY- hanging with hounds... adventure awaits!

The name says it all, "a dog's day" a premium service providing a tremendous option to kenneling your dog at home all day while at school or work! As with other services offered by SYM, it is a great alternative to the traditional dog walk around the block. This service is an outstanding release for youngsters (some restrictions apply) as well as overly active dogs. This all-day adventure gives your dog plenty of social frolicking in the woods (2 full one hour am & pm free-form backcountry hikes, a siesta break... Remember, quiet time is needed to reboot healthy energy for a happy dog! And large doses of TLC with play time. This service offers a great lesson in sharing and respecting space with others of their own kind at the Strutt Your Mutt abode. There is no kenneling during this time although some clients provide their own kennels for lounging time Strutt Your Mutt uses gating to give space and security when needed. SYM works hard to provide a safe loving environment that nurtures your dog's body, mind, and spirit. A fantastic option to help with boredom, chewing, and loneliness. "Plato" (100% natural) healthy non-allergy goodies are given throughout the day to keep life yummy! SYM follows certain basic guidelines during the day with a routine to give the hounds scheduled security that they can count on. For example, manners are a must and are to be respected by each dog. Hikes and exercise are planned at specific times along with an eating, play, and relaxing schedule. Of course there is flexibility with a plan of action, but over time I have experienced dogs feeling more at ease when they have a basic idea of what the scoop is going to be for the day. I like this feeling too!

• SLEEPOVERS- gift your dog "family style" love and care while you're away

A sleepover is the ultimate alternative to kenneling, and a wonderful way to care for dogs that have difficulties when left at home with only visits and perhaps not enough activity. Or for doggies that encounter loneliness or become stressed and unhappy in a kennel situation. This is ideal for elderly or single social doggies. SYM refers to this service as "family-style lodging" because we literally welcome your doggie into our family and home treating them as one of the clan. This service is kept small so that only the best of care can be given and the loving energy that should be experienced is there for your sweet pup! Each dog is honored as an individual, and with sensitivity given to his or her needs. The Strutt Your Mutt abode is set up to accommodate your pooches own bedding so they have their smells of home close by. SYM follows certain basic guidelines throughout the day with a routine to give the hounds scheduled security that they can count on.
